The debate last sunday again put ANAMBRA State in the spotlight. Interesting and rich views shared broadly on all social media platforms. The results aligned perfectly with our expectations and preachings as Obaze and Chidoka showed their class.

After the debate, Dr Tony Nwoye and Gov Obiano media teams invented theories that the electorate doesn't watch television just to reassure their candidates it is not yet over.
But this is incorrect. While this position may be correct in other states, Anambra is different. ANAMBRA doesn't have shanty villages, mud houses where villagers sleep on trees with no internet or electricity. Anambra rural areas are well developed even when majority reside outside. Regardless of where they live, they are always in touch with events happening in the villages and discuss their politcal future with their parents and wards in the village.

One area i would agree with Obiano and Nwoye media team is that debate hardly contributes towards decision making of villagers; rather development, especially physical infrastructure persuades their decision trajectory. Considering that the progress that was consistent with the previous administration, suddenly disappeared, villagers know who not to vote again. They know and i am certain that majority of APGA card carrying members residing in various Anambra villages would not vote for Obiano. The people did not feel his governance as it was felt under Obi. So, i am not worried as the votes of those in the village are certainly not going to APGA.

So who are debates for?

Debates are for the educated, with an excellent understanding of government policies in theory and looking forward to the plans of each of the candidates and implementation pathway to enable them decide, which candidate to vote. So, debate captures electorates that are indecisive untill the last week of election. And over 80 percent of ANAMBRA people both home and abroad read and write and can analyse policies to a reasonable extent. They are the ones debate outcome sways and now angling to vote the best among the rest.

Light of the nation:

Remember, ANAMBRA remains light of the nation. This light dimmed from 1999 to 2003. Ngige and Obi came and increased the watt. The light is becoming dim again. Please don’t make the light go off with another four years of waste. Kindly keep that light shining by electing any of the duos who made you proud to be an ANAMBRA person on Sunday night. Chidoka and Obaze made me proud and i wish the duo were'nt contesting together. They should come at a different time.

My desire for Anambra State:

As a young man, I have looked at the governance practices abroad and desire to replicate same in my state. The best approach since I am not contesting is to support all credible candidates. Promote men that can guarantee the collective gains of Ndi ANAMBRA, not those that ensure state treasuries are emptied on personal purses.

If it is about money, I will re-campaign for Obiano. It is about plucking the leakages. It is about sustaining the Ngige/Peter Obi legacy and improving on it. It is about electing a good man with a good heart as a Governor. It is about choosing a government that understand why a state must save for the rainy days. It is about electing a man who understands that constructing an airport where all neighbouring states airports are not making a profit is not a wise investment choice. It is about choosing men that realize we don’t need to export ugu to attract forex. It is about electing men who would create real jobs and employ our youths instead of using SAs position without portfolio as job creation.

Ignore those who suggest Obiano legacy supersede that of Obi. Monetary inducement can make feeble men be economical with the truth.

Please, this is our only opportunity to correct the 2013 mistake. It may be too late in 2021.

God bless ANAMBRA.

God bless Igboland.

God bless Nigeria.
