Ikpeazu lauded for pushing the Abia Narrative in SME development

The recent National Merit Awards on two Abians in Abuja in fashion design and leather works have been described as a reward for the huge investment made by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in the SME eco-system of the state.

The Commissioner for SME Development Mr Onyema Wachukwu made the statement while briefing the press the latest MSME National Merit Award where two Abians, Miss Prosper Erem and Mr Clement Orjinta won awards.
He said that Abia is the only state with two awardees at the event adding that Abians are naturally blessed with entrepreneurial skills and that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has leveraged on the ingenuity and creative mindset of an average Abian in placing the state on the global map.

The SME Development Commisioner extolled the Governor for his relentless efforts in developing the sme sector of the state assuring that his ministry is determined to make positive impact on the sme sector of the State.

Nwaogu noted that the passion of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in SME development which led to the infrastructural revolution in Aba and other parts of the state ,adding that the first ever 7000 pairs capacity Automated Shoe Factory built by the present administration will be commissioned for use in no distant time.
He said that the 30 shoe makers earlier trained on Automation in China by the present administration have the choice to fully work or as partners in the factory, pointing out that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is determined to the creation of millions of jobs through SME eco-system of the state.

Contributing also, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka said that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as the brand Ambassador of made in Abia goods has laid a solid foundation for further growth and development of SME, adding that the recent awards in SME is the 3rd Abia is receiving under Governor Ikpeazu.

Speaking onbehalf of the two national awardees, the Ohafia-born Miss Prosper Erem said that her family background spurred her into leather works and thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for exposing them to the global community in SME.

Miss Prosper Erem and Mr. Clement Orjinta were among other Nigerians honoured with Micro Small and Medium Enterprises national merit Awards on Abuja in a virtual award ceremony presided over by President Yemi Osinbajo.
