Abia State Police Commissioner Tasks Student Union Leaders On Combating Crime

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State, Adeleye Oyebade has tasked student union leaders in the state to join the police in crime fighting especially in higher institutions. Oyebade made the appeal while delivering a lecture titled “the role of student leaders in combating crime in higher institutions.”

Delivering the lecture, Oyebade described student union leaders as opinion moulders, responsible, dependable and intelligent and noted that crimes involves contravening the laws of the land which impacts negatively on the society.
The commissioner noted that for students union leaders to play their roles efficiently in the fight against crimes in the society, they must be submissive to the authorities of their various institutions.
He reminded the students that they were sent to school for a purpose and must therefore do everything within their powers to avoid anything divisionary.
The police boss decried the increasing rate of cultism and crimes in the nation’s ivory towers, and said it is the duty of student union leaders to discourage such and lead by example.

Commissioner of Police enjoined the students to be conscious of the kind of persons they elect as leaders.
He called for collaboration with the students and expressed the readiness of the police to partner with the student union leaders in achieving a crime free institution.

The police commissioner also received an award which he dedicated to the students
