Ohafia Mornachs commiserate with TC chairman over murder of indigene by police officer

A delegation of members of the Ohafia traditional rulers on Sunday, paid courtesy visit on the Ohafia Local Government TC Chairman, Hon. Fred Eke Idika, to commiserate with him over the killing of Friday Arunsi by a police office.

They eulogized the Chairman in the way and manner he took up the challenge of making sure the unrest that erupted in Ebem Ohafia in the early hours of Saturday, April 18 was managed.

The Royal Fathers expressed huge shock over the dastardly act that led to the untimely death of an innocent young boy who was carrying out his legitimate duties.

They reiterated their commitment as the custodians of tradition and culture to assist the Chairman in the maintenance of law and order of the land within their power of jurisdiction and as well, noted that the Chairman has shown commitment to lasting peace in the Local government by carrying them along in his administration.


They commended the efforts of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's led administration on his tactical approach in handling cases of extra- judicial killings in Abia State, which according to them, would've taken ugly dimension in the State if not properly handled.

They also extended their right hand of fellowship to the Brigadier Commander of Ohafia and his men for their quick intervention into the mayhem.

The delegation was led by HRH Eze Odum Amogu. Other members include; HRH Eze Sunny Ukweni Eziematita, HRH Eze Obuma and HRH Eze Onyiriegbe.

In his response, Hon Fred Idika assured them of his administration's cooperation in working in tandem with various law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders in protecting the lives and property of the citizenry.

He also briefed them on the outcome of the message from Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu through the deputy Governor Rt.Hon.Sir Ude Oko chukwu, whom he took round the hospital to see the injured persons and also to the house of the bereaved family of late Mr Friday Ifeanyi, as well as the police station and DPO’s quarters where angry youths destroyed some properties worth millions of naira.
