The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abia state chapter, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, has assured that nobody will be short-changed in the forthcoming state congresses of the party slated to commence this weekend.

Onuigbo stated this while speaking to newsmen after a meeting of the congress committee at the headquaters of the chapter in the state capital, Umuahia, saying arrangements for the polls have been completed.

He said having learnt the lessons of its past mistakes which led to its defeat in past national elections, the party has resolved to avoid impunity, substitution, and imposition of candidates on the electorate.

Onuigbo, who is also the chairman of the committee said as part of mechanism to ensure the congesses are without rancour, the party will respect its entrenched zoning system to avoid over heating the polity.

“Zoning is not a new thing in the party. I, myself I am a product of zoning arrangement. Now the seat has been zoned to another district outside Abia central senatorial district where I come from,” he said.

According to him, to ensure full participation of women in the congresses, the party has resolved to implement the 35 percent affirmative action for them at all levels as well as give consideration for the physically-challenged.

Maintaining that the chapter has been recognized for the peaceful and orderly conduct of its affairs, he said the other members of the committee had served the party and the state meritoriously at various levels in the past.
