When the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD appointed Transition Chairmen of Local Governments in Abia, Ohafia local Government got her fair share in the person of Prince Fred Eke Idika.  Upon assumption of office after inauguration on the 18th of December, hon Fred kickstarted grading of internal roads in Ohafia to ease vehicular movement during the yuletide.

The grading of the 7 kilometer Nguzu Junction/ Elugu Nkporo Road was commenced by the US trained Security Expert who sees his position as a call to serve.
The  Political Administrator has not failed to follow the footsteps of Dr. Ikpeazu whose people- oriented Programmes have been widely commended. It could be recalled that the Chairman also extended his road rehabilitation to Timber shade road with entrance and exit routes to Akanu Ohafia,Ndi Uduma Awoke Ohafia, Asaga Ohafia, Okon Aku and other Communities in Arochukwu LGA,Chidinma avenue, Mgbaga road, Nna agwu Idika avenue as well as Ihenta Ohafia road in Ohafia. He has promised to extend these gesture to other communities.

Apart from road grading,  Prince Eke liases with all security units in Ohafia to make sure lives and properties are protected. Ohafia recorded no crime during the yuletide, much to these collaboration.

Prince Eke is down to earth. He relates with everyone and has eyes for excellence. It was during one of his numerous inspections that a disaster was averted in Ohafia as he intervenes swiftly. Prompt action by Prince Eke was enough to avert a fire disaster at Ebem Ohafia when a tanker carrying petroleum fell down at the city center. The chairman was on ground to coordinate Ohafia Water Tankers, Security Agencies and Villagers who made sure the disaster was averted. This is to further embellish the fact that the people's chairman actively get involved in handling Challenges surrounding the local government.

Just recently,  the Chairman gave approval for the clearing and fixing of the abandoned lawn tennis court in the council headquarters at Ebem. According to him,  he will use sports to unite the people and workers in the council as well as attract lovers of sports to the local government once he perfects reconstruction of the court. This move defines readiness to work.

Prince Eke is transparent and accountable. The party structure in the local government is not left behind.  He has as well continued to reach out to stakeholders of PDP in the local government to ensure a successful outing in all fronts.

Saddened by the activities of agents who use every mean including violence to collect money from motorists on the road, Prince Eke has disbanded the revenue agents and at the moment is in talks with several legally recognized unions to collect all revenues due to the local government.  This clear effort has been applauded by the good people of Ohafia who were hitherto asking for a way to curtail the activities of the agents.

Prince Eke has been working harmoniously with his councillors to make sure more dividends of democracy is delivered to Ohafia LGA.  He has a long list of plans to carryout in Ohafia. God's willing,  Ohafia will wear a better look under Prince Fred Eke .
