The minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun has reaffirmed the suspension of the Director General Of Security And Exchange Commission (SEC). Adeosun made this clarification at a public hearing where she insisted that the suspension is in the interest of the sustainability of the capital market.

There have been allegations and counter-allegations by the minister of finance, and Munir Gwarzo the suspended Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The suspended SEC DG argued that the finance minister interferes with the dealings of the commission.

Lawmakers, however, queried if indeed it has anything to do with the forensic audit of Oando. In her response, the minister revealed that it has more to do with public service rule, as the suspended DG was a director of an operating company in SEC which he is still a signatory to.

The hearing was adjourned to reconvene on a later date.
