2021: Ohafia Chair presents Budget of ‘Even Development’ to council

The Chairman of Ohafia Local Government Area, Dr Okorafor Ukiwe, today, presented a budget of Two billion and Sixteen million, two hundred and fifty six thousand four hundred and Seventy naira (N2, 016, 256, 470) to the council’s 5th legislative Assembly.

The Budget  tagged “Budget of Even Development”, is anchored on the massive infrastructural revolution, human capital development and Skill acquisition geared towards delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the local government.

During the presentation, Dr. Ukiwe said the budget will complement the statewide infrastructural development effort of the State government led by Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and impact positively on the lives of the people of the Council.

The 2021 budget estimate will focus on Human development and Skill Acquisition, grading of roads and construction of adequate drainages, control and prevention of erosion, construction and rehabilitation of basic infrastructure, upgrading some motor parks and markets, renovation of the Local government poultry, improvement of the cassava demonstration factories, improvement of the health care delivery services, youths and sports development, amongst other things. 

Appreciating the legislators for demonstrating interest and commitment to the development of the LGA, the Chairman, commended the Assembly for their support in taking the Local Government Area to a greater height amongst the comity of councils in the State. The Chairman prayed for more harmonious and cordial relationship between the legislature and the executive. 

Also speaking, the Leader of the Legislative Assembly, Hon. Ụka Ndukwe  said the  budget presentation was a landmark to the activities of the House.

He assured that the House would ensure proper scrutiny of the budget and ensure its quick passage to enable the executive arm of government to foster a new beginning of development in the area.
