The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to the payment of #5000 to unemployed youths in fulfillment of its election campaign promises from 2016.

Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalong, who revealed this on a visit to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Oyegun on the demise of the Abubakar Audu of Kogi State, said the present administration will fulfill all its campaign promises.

He revealed that thepayment of the promised N5,000 would be effective once it becomes part of the budget.

In his words “I would want the youth to understand that every promise must be backed up by budgetary provision and our promise to pay N5000 is not contained in the 2015 budget. So, definitely, it is going to begin in 2016 as we have made budgetary allocations for that,” he said.

“We are committed to the campaign promises of creating jobs, providing wealth and combat poverty. We have embedded in our manifesto things that we are translating to reality.”

The mminister further stated that some of the youth empowerment programmes that were ongoing were being reviewed so that they become more viable and people-oriented.

He said a definite programme of orientation for the youth in Nigeria has to be put in place as according to him “they have been frustrated for so long”.
