Since the inception of his administration, Governor Ikpeazu has stridently campaigned for and promoted made in Aba brands with unparalleled vigor and focus. This is evident in his decision to put on Made-in-Aba clothes, shoes, and accessories. To date, he has kept the promise to the admiration and acknowledgment of all, by always wearing openly branded made in Aba clothes and shoes, even outside the shores of Nigeria.

It will interest you to note that Governor Ikpeazu, as a strong promoter of made in Aba products, does not promote the goods because they are produced in Aba, but because they are an endorsement of the youthful zest, energy of Nigeria youths, and the creative minds of Abia people.

It is worthy of note to state that “Aba” is an existing brand. As a result, Governor Ikpeazu is on the move to create a re-orientation and encourage local manufacturers to see their products as superior to those of the Western World, by ensuring the active promotion of the brand. More so, with human capital development put in place by training 30 youths in China (in automated shoemaking), it is certain that thousands of youths will be enabled to produce more shoes with less stress and in the shortest time.

Governor Ikpeazu ensures that made-in-Aba products become something of high quality and in high demand. This, he exemplifies by presenting made-in-Aba products as souvenirs to visitors who visit the State. The relevance of this has placed Abia in front, on the map of global creative conversation.

Nationally, the focused promotion of Made in Aba brands by the Governor has attracted the attention of the Federal Government with Vice president, Prof., Yemi Osibanjo, being one of the strongest supporters of the Governor’s development initiatives. Correspondingly, the Nigerian military has long ordered for and received more than 50,000 Made in Aba shoes, while the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is currently considering a proposal to make all their uniforms from Aba at a much-reduced cost.

Imperatively, Abia State won the Best State in promotion of made in Nigeria products and best State in the promotion of small and medium scale enterprises in the Business Day Newspaper States Competitiveness and Good Governance Award of 2017. The promotion of Made in Aba brands by Governor Ikpeazu has helped local producers grow, make more profits and to contribute to a reduction in unemployment and add to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the nation. Having weighed up Governor Ikpeazu promotion of Made in Aba products, it is lucidly evident that “Made in Aba” is already leading at the national front, while making a very strong competitive impact globally.
