The Nigerian Army says it will deploy drones to monitor Edo State governorship election on September 28.

The Commander of the 4th Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier Raji Benbela, said that the initiative was part of measures to have credible, free and fair election.

While displaying the drone at the police headquarters in Benin, during an exercise tagged: “Show of Force, Benbela said that though drones would carry out aerial view of strategic locations in the state, security agencies would also be deployed to ensure violence-free election.

He assured Edo people of adequate security, and appealed to the electorate and political actors to conduct themselves in a manner that would not jeopardise the electoral process.

Benbela disclosed that the Army had arrested some persons in connection with some nefarious activities, saying that they would face trial after the election.
