National Health Bill recieves President Jonathan's nod

The National Health Bill has recieved a boost with President Jonathan's passage of the bill into law. The passage of the bill which has made its way through to both Houses of Assembly twice, comes as stakeholders in the health sector describes the bill as a very important crossroads in the development of the health sector.

The bill,which is now an act of parliament seeks to provide a framework for the development,management and regulation of National Health system and set standards for rendering health service in the country.

The Act will establish a basic health care fund through the deduction of an additional one percent of Nigeria's Consolidated Revenue Account for Primary Health care. This is in addition to the expected counterpart funding contribution from the states and local government areas.

The passage of the bill,will also improve healthcare services,especially for the vulnerable group,who will now get access to quality services and health status.
