We are Proud of You, Abia Assembly Tells Speaker on Bagging NUJ Award

Following the award of “Distinguished Friend of the Media” with which the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, was honoured with by the national body of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Sheraton Hotels and Towers last Thursday, the State Assembly has congratulated the Speaker whom they described as truly “media friendly” and therefore deserving of the Honour.

The Assembly made this known in a statement signed by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu who also doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Information.

“Your choice by the NUJ as the only House of Assembly Speaker in the country to be so honoured speaks volume”, the statement read.

Continuing, the statement says, “It is on record that Abians, Nigerians and the world at large get to read and watch live proceedings of the Abia State House of Assembly on social media only during your time and that is enough proof that you are indeed a “Media Friendly Speaker’.

The statement in full reads:

“The Members of the Abia State House of Assembly wishes to congratulate our media friendly Speaker, Rt Hon. Engr. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji on his recognition as
“Distinguished Friend of the Media” by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

“This is indeed a well deserved Award for our dynamic and media loving speaker.

“Your choice by the NUJ as the only House of Assembly Speaker in the country to be so honoured speaks volume.

“It is on record that Abians, Nigerians and the world at large get to read and watch live proceedings of the Abia State House of Assembly on social media only during your time and that is enough proof that you are indeed a ‘Media Friendly Speaker’.

“We are proud of you, Mr Speaker and we hope for more accolades for you as you continue to lead the most peaceful and harmonious assembly in the country.

“Congratulations Mr. Speaker”, the statement concluded.
