Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has disclosed that his administration has paid an initial sum of 500 Million Naira to Ferotex Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the first phase of the Opobo Road end of the Aba Ikot Ekpene federal road.

The Governor stated this today while on an inspection visit to the road project at Opobo Junction.
He said that this contractor is different from the one designated by the federal government to work on the road.

According to the Governor, after waiting for several years for the Federal Government to commence work on the road, and after watching our people who live around that area go through unmitigated suffering, he chose to take the bulls by the horn.

The Governor stated that the first 5 kilometers of that road which will start from Opobo Junction through Alaoji through Ukpakiri and heading towards Ohanze will be delivered on schedule.

The Governor said that he is providing these details so that some ex prisoners will not come tomorrow and claim to have done the road.
