The Church, a reliable development partner - Ohafia LG Chair

The church has been described as a reliable partner in progress with the government in education and social development.

The Chairman Ohafia Local Government Area, Dr Okorafor Ukiwe, stated this today in Aba during the " Maiden Scholarship award to Deserving Students " by the Abiriba Christian fellowship of Assemblies of God church.

Ukiwe said, " I am glad to see the church rising up to the mandate given to us by our Lord Jesus christ by being our brothers keeper and providing help one for another. The beautiful part of this scheme is that it encourages education which is one of the five pillars of development of our education loving Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu"

The Chairman who was represented by The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Comrade Paul Kalu, stated that more of this kind of partnership is what is needed to boost education and overall development of the state. He thanked the sponsors and initiators of the scheme and prayed for God's blessing on them.

The Council boss, charged the pioneer beneficiaries to be good Ambassadors for christ in their various institutions and to justify the confidence reposed on them by the Scholarship board who has rigorously chosen them for the sponsorship.

The beneficiaries are;

1. Miss Mark Uchechi (Public Health, ABSU) who received a cheque of one hundred and twenty five thousand naira covering her tuition and pocket money for this session.

2. Miss Urum Marachi ( Social Work, UNN) who received a cheque of one hundred thousand naira.

3. Miss Achinihu Ebere ( Creative and Cultural Arts, NTI Kaduna) who received a cheque of fifty two thousand naira.

Earlier in his address, the Executive Council member of Assemblies of God Nigeria, who also is the Aba District Superintendent, Rev Ogba Onyeije , commended the ACF of Assemblies of God church for the noble initiative and joined the Chairman to charge the beneficiaries to justify the trust and be a good example to others.

In his sermon, Rev Ogboso Ejindu enjoined the beneficiaries and the church to know that success is not meant for the preferred but the prepared. In a sermon hinged on Genesis 25 vs 28, the Senior pastor of AG church of the East, charged the students to prepare through focus, self motivation, self discipline, taking calculative risk and the power of God so as to be successful in their academic pursuit.

The National President of ACF, Ambassador Azu Ude, the Chairman of the scholarship board, Hon Chris Neokocha, ACF Aba President, Hon Okoro Okeke were among the dignitaries that graced the occasion.
