The Ohafia Local government Chairman, Dr. Okorafor Ukiwe has called on federal government to quickly intervene on the already awarded Nmuri bridge to avert impending tragedy and to ease the sufferings of road users.

The chairman made the call this morning when news about a Trailer load of cement that got stuck on sinking Nmuri bridge filtered in.

The LGA boss advised road users to consider alternate routes as efforts are being made to evacuate the trailer.

Recall that the contractor mobilized to reconstruct Nmuri bridge by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, was chased off the site by Setraco a couple of weeks ago.

According to Setraco, the contract to reconstruct Nmuri bridge has been awarded to them by Federal govt.

Meanwhile, the LGA boss has drawn the attention of the Honorable member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency,  Hon. Uko Nkole to the urgent need to ensure the contractors reportedly handling the Nmuri bridge contract begin work immediately.
