Churches in Arochukwu have been urged to follow Government’s instructions as regards the coronavirus pandemic. Church leaders under the auspices of Arochukwu Ministers Fellowship (AMF) received the admonition in a meeting with the council Chairman Mazi Jideofor Kanu in his office.
The LGA Boss made it clear that the duty of the Government is to protect the lives and properties of its citizenry and will therefore do everything in its power to ensure the safety of its people. He urged them not to see these directives as contrary to the christian faith in God but to see it as measures to curtail the spread of the deadly virus as “faith without work is meaningless”.
The guild lines included Ensuring and maintaining social distancing in churches, providing hand washing buckets at the church premises, use of face masks, postponement of midweek services, Vigils and other church programs, not more than 50 worshippers in a service and also not staying more than an hour in a Sunday service. He warned that churches who refuse to comply will be sealed by the LGA task force.
In his speech, the president, Arochukwu Ministers Fellowship, Pastor Elvis Anicho thanked the LGA Chairman for the briefing and promised that all churches represented at the meeting will take back the message to their churches for immediate implementation.
He called on the Chairman who he described as a man of honour and a faithful servant sent by God to also spread this news to the markets and in the villages for wider compliance. He said they have been praying for the quick recovery of the State Governor, HE Victor Okezie Ikpeazu phD and also for the Chairman and LGA at large.
High point ofthe meeting includes a special prayer which was made for the Governor and other Government officials, the State, LGA and Nigeria at large.
