Ohafia Local Government T.C Chairman,  Prince Fred Eke Idika on Saturday April 25, visited some of the boundary areas to assess security situation and level of compliance as regards directive on closure of InterState borders.

He was conducted round by the GOC and Operations Commander of the Vigilante Services.

Areas visited were:

Eziafor Ohafia/ Biakpan,Cross River border,
Amuma Ohafia/ Ikun, Cross River State border,
Okagwe Ohafia/ Nguzu, Ebonyi State border.
His visit sent warning signals to all communities at interstate boundaries, to be vigilant and keep the State safe by making sure no one enters Abia State from our neighboring States through their communities.

He received security reports from the Vigilante men who are on 24 hours Vigil, of some foiled attempts by villagers trying to smuggle people into Ohafia through the borders.

Hon Idika has called the attention of the Traditional rulers, Youth leaders, Union leaders and other stakeholders of the communities to be mindful of the activities of their indigenes, as he will make sure anyone who violates the State's directive will have the authorities to contend with.

The Council boss has not relented in making sure that the hard working Vigilante men are given adequate and sustainable support that have kept them intact for their voluntary Services during this period of global pandemic.

He emphasized on the regular use of facemasks, hand washing hygiene, cough etiquette and social distancing.

Communities with common Interstate boundaries from Ohafia axis include:
