Abia State House of Assembly Plenary Session for Monday, 3rd of February, 2020

The Deputy Speaker Rt.Hon.Ifeanyi Uchendu brought a matter of Urgent Public Importance on the deplorable condition of Muri Bridge linking Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area to Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area.
He prayed the House to mandate the House Committee on Works and Project Monitoring to carry out an on-the-spot assessment and report back to the House.
He also prayed that the House prevail on the State Government to carry out some palliative on the failed portion of the bridge.
After contributions from Lawmakers, the House resolved to call on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to come to the rescue of the people of the Area regarding the bridge.
The House suspended its Rule Book to accommodate another Matter of Urgent Public Importance over the recent attack on Isu people this morning by people of neighboring Cross River State.
"I urge this House, to call on relevant security agencies to move into the community to forestall further loss of lives and properties, I also call on a lasting Solution to it" Hon Mike Ukoha, the Member representing Arochukwu State Constituency stated while presenting the matter on the floor of the House.
The House during Plenary also considered H.A.B. 13: "The Abia State Orientation Agency Bill,2019".
The Majority Leader of the House and sponsor of the Bill, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, while leading the debate on the Bill, said  the Bill  passed into Law will help in giving Abians Orientation about our norms and values as a People.
He therefore called on his fellow Lawmakers to support the Abia State Orientation Agency Bill.
After contributions by Honourable Members, the Speaker Rt.Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji committed the Bill which passed its Second Reading to the House Committee of the Whole for further Legislative Action on another Legislative Day.
