ABSU Goes Tough On Randy Lecturers, Dismisses 3, Approves Anti-Sex Policy

The Governing council of Abia State University has approved the dismissal of three (3) Lecturers from the department of Economics of the University for various offences including Sex for grade, These include: Dr. H.I.O  Ogwuru, Dr. Ben Ogbonna, Dr. A. Agugua.

This followed the consideration of the reports and recommendations of the University's Staff Disciplinary Committee which found them guilty of the offences preferred against them.


Also, Senate of the University at its 334th regular meeting approved a policy on Anti-Sexual harasment and related unwholesome academic misconduct for staff and students of the University.

The University has therefore declared as unlawful for a lecturer or staff to sexually harass  a student or another staff as defaulters will be severely sanctioned. 


Similarly, 34 Students of the University who were found guilty of breaching their Matriculation Oath have been disciplined by the University with the following sanctions:Expulsion - 16Suspension for 1 year - 6Indefinite Suspension - 12

The Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne has therefore reassured staff and students of the University of the determination of Management and Senate to ensure conducive environment for teaching and research, while urging them to be guided by approved University Regulations.
