ABSU governing authorities dismiss erring staff and students

The Governing Authorities of Abia State University have approved the dismissal of three (3) Teaching and four (4) Non-teaching Staff of the University for acts of gross misconduct.


Also approved were the suspension of one Teaching staff for one academic year and warning for two (2) others.
This followed the consideration of the reports and recommendations of the University's Staff Disciplinary Committee which found them guilty of the offences preferred against them.


Similarly, 34 Students of the University who were found guilty of breaching their Matriculation Oath have been disciplined by the University with the following sanctions:Expulsion  - 16Suspension for 1year - 6Indefinite Suspension - 12.


The Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne has re-assured staff and students of the University of the determination of Management to ensure conducive environment for teaching and research, while urging them to be guided by approved University Regulations.


We commend the Vice-Chancellor for his passion for excellence, fairness and firmness in carrying out his responsibilities.
