Hagler Okorie calls for creation of additional Local govt from Bende LGA

The Transition Committee Chairman for Bende Local Government Area Dr Hagler Okorie has called for the creation of additional Local Government from the present Bende Local Government Area. 

The TC Chairman made the call during an inter face between the National Assembly Team on Nigeria Leadership Encyclopedia project and the Royal Feathers in Bende Local Government Area including the political Class.
He described Bende as one of the largest and oldest Local Government in Nigeria with over 100 Traditional rulers, 81 primary schools, and rich Agricultural potentials, He thanked the Abia State Government ably lead by Governor Victor Okezie Ikpeazu for his efforts in Rural Community Development through Abia CSDP and other agencies, including the Agricultural revolution program of the state, especially in the area of rice production having the cottoge rice mill for osikapa Abia at uzuakoli and said additional Local Government will fast track the development of the Local Government and enhance security. 

Earlier in his speech, the leader of the National Assembly Team on Nigerian Leadership Encyclopedia Project, Royal Prince Celestine Ekwe said their project is a product of the decision of the National Assembly to institutionalize a leadership database for our Nigerian leaders including the royal class and to strengthen the grassroot security through networking with the traditional institutions. He said the leadership database will serve as authoritative source of reference and help solve the problem of misrepresentation of identity.
The Nigerian Leadership Encyclopedia Project include: The Nigerian Traditional Rulers Encyclopedia and The Nigerian Leadership Encyclopedia.

Networking with traditional institutions,  Prince Ekwe stated that the National Assembly is coming up with a new bill that will drive the process, where the traditional rulers will be held responsible for security bridges and bridge of peace in their various domains. The bill will strengthen and capacitate our royal fathers to be indeed chief security officers of their various domains increasing on their logistics.

Also under this bill a new grasroot security arrangement called GRASSROOT INTELLIGENCE GATHERING SERVICES will be put in place, this is to ensure that the traditional institution is carried along in the security network of the nation.

 Under this arrangement also, traditional rulers will nominate 3 able bodied men from their domain, the nominees will be screened and sent to security institute for training before they come down to assist the royal fathers in strengthening security in their various domains. 

Responding, the traditional ruler of Umuisiobu Autonomous Community and Chairman Bende traditional rulers council HRH Eze Engr Partick Ude thanked the National Assembly Team for their visit, and charged the team to pass their message which include giving more constitutional responsibility, especially in the area of security to the traditional institution and creation of additional Local Government from the present Bende Local Government Area. 

The Deputy TC Chairman Mr John Mark, The Secretary to the Local Government council Pastor Mrs Ebere Onu ,TC Councillors  and traditional rulers from the different communities in Bende Local Government Area were present during the meeting.
