Be Good Ambassadors of NYSC, Ikpeazu charges corps members

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has used the occasion of the passing out parade of corps members posted to the state to counsel them to refrain from negative vices that would tarnish the image of the scheme, their families and ruin their future.

Dr Ikpeazu who stated this during the closing ceremony of the 2019 Batch C Stream ll held at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umunna Bende LGA warned them to resist any attempt by disgruntled elements in the society to hijack and use to cause chaos and crisis in the state.

Represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the governor expressed satisfaction with the matured and disciplined manner they conducted themselves throughout the period of their orientation programme.

Dr. Ikpeazu urged them to make good used of the experience they gathered throughout their three weeks orientation to go into the larger world to contribute their own quota to the overall development of Abia state and nation at large.

According to him," as you proceed to your places of primary assignment, you should purge yourselves of preconceived ideas and develop the spirit of open mindedness to enable new ideas to come into you.

He enjoined them to accept their postings in good fate and in the interest of national service.

Earlier in her address, the NYSC Abia State coordinator, Lady Bona Adibeli Fasakin appreciated the various collaborating agencies for releasing their personnel for the orientation course and expressed happiness that the corps members exhibited an unparalleled level of discipline.

Her words, "It is heartwarming to report that these crops of corps members have proved their worth in the last three weeks. When they reported to camp, like every new experience, their initial mood was that of fear of the unknown. However in the course of the programme, their initial fears began to give way for determination to succeed.

She passionately appealed to the state government to give urgent attention to the menace of erosion affecting the camp, adding, " the issue of erosion has been a teething problem which needs urgent attention of the government to avoid serious unforseen circumstances in the camp ".

Fasakin who enjoined the corps members to continue to serve " our fatherland with all diligence ", admonished them to put into practice all the trainings they have acquired during the induction course.
