In a bid to making sure that Muslims and other people traveling to Saudi Arabia do not lose contact with their loved ones during this season of Hajj which falls on October 1-6, the leading telecommunications network MTN has slashed its data.

By the slashed data, voice and message rates would be as low as 1kobo per kilobyte; make and receive calls for as low as N20 per minute; send text messages for N20 per SMS and receive SMS for free while roaming in the Middle East country.

The General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN Nigeria, Kola Oyeyemi said the reduction was to ensure friendly roaming tariff rates for their customers that have traveled to Saudi Arabia  to feel at home, while browsing at the most affordable rate of 1kobo per kilobyte.

He further said the slash was based on its commitment to the total wellbeing of all their customers by trying hard to make their lives brighter through their propositions, products and value-added services.

He however said that the this year’s Haji all-expense paid trip that sponsored 20 pilgrims by MTN were selected through a computer-based random selection, on the digital Value Added Services like the daily devotionals, Islamic quotes, sermons, Islamic songs, prayers, Islamic callertunez and other spiritually uplifting and faith enriching contents they subscribed to.
