The Abia state polytechnic(Abiapoly) students have warned members and leadership of the  Nigeria labour congress(NLC) to stay away from their school, even as they accused NLC of inviting hoodlums to protest in the guise of students against the school's management.

In a statement signed by the president of the student union government, Comrade Nwankwo George,  the students denied participating in any protest against the management of the school.

The statement reads:

"Our attention has been drawn to media publication suggesting that students of Abia state polytechnic (Abiapoly)  Aba participated in a demonstration on Monday 30th September 2019, against the management of our great institution with regards to the ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning our school for greater  exploit.

"We wish to state unequivocally that Abiapoly students were not involved in any protest but rather the organizers, led by Abia state Nigeria labour congress (NLC)chairman ,  Comrade uchenna Obigwe,  who brought hoodlums to our school to lock up  the gate and harass innocent passerby.

"As student body,  we have no business with  nlc or the local unions and frown at the  attempt to involve us in a matter we consider purely administrative. Furthermore,  we believe that anything that will lead to the closure of our school at this time will hurt us as students as well as our parents who carry Te burden of paying for more years than planned  originally.

"We therefore wish to warn the leadership of  NLC in the state and the local union to stay  clear of our school along with their hired hoodlums as we will not keep quiet and watch outsiders  lock up  our school again."
