Gov. Ugwuanyi nominates 12 new commissioners

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has sent another list of twelve commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for confirmation.

In a letter sent to House, which was read by the Speaker, Edward Ubosi, at the plenary on Tuesday, Mr Ugwuanyi appealed for their confirmation as members of the State Executive Council.

The nominees are Matthias Ekweremadu, Uchechukwu Ogbonna, Marbel Agbo, Ada Onah, Uche Eze, and Peter Okonkwo.

Others are Mellitus Eze, Kene Oyennem, Obi Kama, Ugonna Ibeh, Victor Nnam and Emeka Ugochukwu.

The speaker directed the clerk to ask the nominees to submit their Curriculum Vitae to the house for their screening on Thursday.

The house then adjourned plenary till Thursday.

The list has brought the number of commissioner nominees forwarded to the house by Ugwuanyi to 20.

The governor had in August sent names of eight nominees to the legislature for approval

The nominees were Greg Nnaji, former Commissioner of Science and Technology as well as Works and Infrastructure from Enugu-East Local Government; former Commissioner for Local Government, Chijioke Edoga from Isi-Uzo Local Government Area; Emeka Mamah, former Commissioner for Environment, from Igboeze North Local Government Area and former Commissioner for Lands, Solomon Onah from Udenu Local Government Area.

The others were former Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Peace Nnaji, from Nkanu-East Local Government Area; former Commissioner for Water Resources, Charles Egumbge from Udi Local Government Area; former Commissioner for Transport, Vitus Okechi, from Igboeze South Local Government Area; former Head of Enugu Capital Territory Development Agency, Chidi Aroh from Igboetiti Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Ugwuanyi had asked the 17 local government areas that make up the state to nominate qualified persons from their localities for appointment as commissioners.
