Early morning commuters at Ogbor Hill Area of Aba were saved from a near-fatal accident involving a sewage disposal truck conveying human wastes by the heroic intervention of the driver of an Abia State Public Utilities Management Agency (APUMA) truck.

The sewage truck which was descending the hill at high speed from the Opobo junction end of Ogbor Hill experienced break failure and the driver lost control of the vehicle with commuters waiting for vehicles screaming and fleeing in different directions before the APUMA truck driver quickly planted his vehicle in front of the sewage truck in order to prevent it from crashing into pedestrians and vehicle owners near the police check point in front of the waterside abattoir.

The sewage vehicle on hitting the APUMA truck, pushed it until the driver was able to bring both vehicles to a stop at the median near the police check point.

Both vehicles were damaged but no life was lost. Witnesses to the event erupted in cheers and thanksgiving to God for using the driver of the APUMA to save lives.

A top official of Abia State Government who refused to be named witnessed the incident and applauded the APUMA driver for his bravery and instinctive action. He admonished motorists using the Waterside Hill of Aba-Ikot Ekepene Road to always slow down when they approach the hills.
