Victor Oye: The Macabre Dance Of A Political Jobber

It is with utter dismay and consternation that we read the disjointed and poorly scripted piece labelled an 'open letter' signed by Victor Oye, the immediate past National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and addressed to Augustine Ehimere and co.

Oye, in his so-called open letter, entitled 'Don't Pay Evil With Evil' made unfounded allegations, insinuating that some people invaded and took possession of APGA party secretariat on Friday June7, 2019. While we don't intend to dignify Oye and co-travelers with a response, it is, however, pertinent to put the records straight to among other things ensure that unsuspecting members of the public are not misinformed or misled by Oye's deliberate falsehood.

Suffice it to say that the building located at No. 74 School Road, off Ikot-Ekpene Road, Umuahia, which houses Abia APGA secretariat was provided and paid for by Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, the 2019 Governorship candidate of the party. Also, the office equipment including furniture and fittings were procured by him with personal money.

The Tenancy Agreement also recognizes Dr. Alex Otti, OFR as the tenant. The building, given the Tenancy Agreement, prepared by Late E. M Ibeawuchi Esq, recognized only Dr. Alex Otti, OFR as the custodian. It is pertinent to note that the secretariat, paid and provided by Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, is meant to accommodate the executive and leadership of APGA in Abia State.

It is neither a refuge ground for displaced political charlatans and hoodlums nor an extension of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Having stated this, we therefore condemn in its entirety the diatribe and vituperation of Victor Oye as contained his so-called open letter.

It is public knowledge that Oye is a stranger in APGA who has constituted himself as the party's undertaker. We are vindicated given that our earlier fears that Oye, the former National Chairman, was conscripted and imposed to balkanize and fleece APGA members have indeed manifested.

His iniquities, fraudulent and anti-party activities during the just concluded 2019 election grossly rubbished the sincere and good efforts of our foremost party leaders such as Late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and his wife, Bianca, Chief Victor Umeh and Dr. Alex Otti, OFR who laboured and committed their hard earned resources to groom the party. We are also not unaware of the recent court injunctions nullifying the Awka charade including the sham in Abia which Oye referred to as Convention in his disjointed open letter.

It is an indisputable fact that Oye, the impostor, is risking court contempt for parading himself as the National Chairman likewise his co-traveller in Abia, Augustine Ehiemere, the immediate past Chairman of the party in Abia state. Let it be on record that the Umuahia party secretariat was reclaimed following due process by the congress elected and authentic Exco of Abia APGA led by Hon. Nkem Okoro.

As law abiding and responsible citizens, the members of the newly elected Exco conducted themselves in a lawful and peaceful manner waving off provocations by some gangsters and hoodlums led by Augustine Ehiemere who attempted to sit-tight as members of the State Working Committee (SWC) after the expiration of their tenure a few weeks ago. Unfortunately for them, their ploy was nipped in the bud.

They also forgot that impunity doesn't reign forever no matter how it is plotted. Furthermore, the retrieval of APGA party's machinery and office complex from these hirelings and impostors that willingly turned to destructive tools and agents of the ruling PDP no doubt shocked and destabilized Oye.

We are not surprised given the antecedents of Oye and his anti-party activities. Rather than support Dr. Alex Otti, OFR whose foray into APGA in 2014 marked a turnaround in the history of the party in Abia, Oye for reasons best known to him resorted to fight this man that singlehandedly funded and sustained the party as the voice of opposition in the state. Unfortunately for Oye, his blackmail and unwholesome attitude as an ingrate and political jobber, will not deter Dr. Alex Otti, OFR and members of APGA from ensuring that Justice prevails in Abia. Their plans to frustrate our Governorship candidate who is seeking justice for Ndi Abia at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal will definitely fail like a pack of cards.

Finally, we wish to admonish our teeming members to disregard Oye and co-travelers including Ehiemere, and remain steadfast and supportive to the present leadership of the party under Hon. Nkem Okoro as it strives to rebuild and reposition the party. Thanks and remain blessed

Hon. Ebere Uzoukwa

State Publicity Secretary

APGA, Abia State.
