Nineteen executives of Abia State’s People’s Democratic Party yesterday announced the suspension of its chairman, Johnson Onuigbo, over alleged breach of the party’s constitution.

In a communique signed by 19 members of the state executive and the zonal leaders of the party representing Abia North, Abia Central and Abia South Senatorial Districts, Onuigbo was accused of violating Sections 21(3) and 24(3) of the PDP Constitution

Onuigbo was further accused of refusing to call regular meetings as demanded by the Constitution of the party.

The communique also indicated that the state’s deputy chairman of the party, P.C. Onyegbu, has been appointed acting chairman of the party and is expected to set up a seven-man committee to probe activities of the suspended chairman.
