Abia to partner Kano on SME development - Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has promised effective collaboration with Kano State on the development of small and medium scale enterprises development in the state.

Ikpeazu, who spoke yesterday, when the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Umuahia, also said Abia would leverage on the abundance of leather, cotton and the ternaries in Kano to improve the leather, shoes and bags industry in Abia.

According to him, every state needs each other to survive and develop. “For me, every part of Nigeria needs each other and this is the kind of synergy we need,” Ikpeazu said, disclosing that he had opened talks with the Bank of Industry to see how best to source the materials from Kano.

Governor Ikpeazu further stressed the need for every ethnic nationality in the country to respect each other’s differences and learn how to leverage the things they share in common for the sake of unity and posterity.

Earlier in his remarks, Governor Ganduje explained that he was in Abia state to receive a royal honour to be conferred on him by the chairman, South East Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Eberechi Dick. According to him, the honour would further consolidate national integration which Nigerians are yearning for and called on Nigerians “to understand their differences and accept each other as the only way to build a united Nigeria.”
