About two politicians have been reportedly killed by gunmen in Abia State between Sunday and Monday evening.

One the deceased, simply identified as Bisha B, was said to be a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

It was gathered that Bisha B was APGA’s first campaign organisation for Ward 7 in the Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.

A House of Assembly aspirant from the area, identified as Ihuoma Ezechi, who took to his Facebook account to announce the death of the deceased, described Bisha B as a nice man.

He stated, “My heart bleeds as Bisha B, my ‘boy’, was murdered in cold blood and his body dropped on the road in Ntigha by unknown enemies.

“You were a very nice and peaceful ‘boy’. They have killed and dumped you in the dark, but the all-knowing and all-seeing God saw everything and must expose them in due course. Fare thee well my Oku-Uguru ‘boy’.

“It’s a pity you didn’t live to see our dream of APGA taking over Abia State and my declaration as the member representing Isiala Ngwa North in the State House of Assembly come true. I promise to remember and mourn you forever as long as I live. Sleep well my ‘boy’,” Ezechi wrote on Facebook.

The second person that was mowed down by unknown hoodlums was identified as Mr Okechukwu Obisike, an Assistant Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ezere Ward 2, in the Isikwuato Local Government Area of the state.

A source, who did not want to be named, told Southern City News that Obisike was murdered along Oriendu Amune Ovim on Monday at about 8.30pm by some unknown men.

The source said the reason for his murder was still unknown, adding that members of the deceased’s family were still in shock over his death.

The Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Abia State, Chief Don Ubani, confirmed the incident, saying it was unfortunate that the party lost one of its committed members in such a gruesome manner.

He lamented that members of the opposition party in the Abia North Senatorial District had become unnecessarily confrontational in recent times.

He said, “Billboards belonging to our party members have been destroyed in the zone by members of opposition parties. We plead with them to play the politics of civility because the PDP is a very decent party.”

When the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Anthony Ogbizi, was contacted, he said the police would investigate the incidents to ascertain what led to the deaths.
