Oko Chukwu extolls ex lawmakers input in Abia development

Deputy governor of Abia state, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has tasked ex legislators of Abia State House of Assembly not to relent in their contribution to the development of the state. 


Sir Oko Chukwu who spoke at his Umuahia government House lodge when he granted audience to former members of the state House of Assembly from inception to date who are still members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) said that their visit was a great sacrifice and show of love to one of their own who was their former colleague.


He said that it was in recognition of their modest contributions and inputs they have made in government that made the governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to appoint 11 former lawmakers as members of the state executive council.


The deputy governor equally appreciated their contributions particularly in working hard during the last election to enthroned the present government by recognizing that one of them was a running mate in that election with Dr Ikpeazu.


He assured them that he would continue to carry the banner of the association high by been a worthy ambassador of the ex legislative arm and thanked his former colleagues for appreciating the present administration under governor Ikpeazu and his own supporting role in the modest developmental achievements in the state. 

 
Sir Oko Chukwu who was the Speaker of the House from 2011-2015 said that he recognized the fact he carries the flag of former legislative arm and must therefore succeed otherwise people would say it was a well known fact that those who pass through the legislature dont do well while in the executive but his performance so far are indication of the versatility of law makers in governance.


He commended the idea behind forming the body which he said would serve as a pool of ideas to harness for the development of the state stating that before now there were not much members of the past legislative house like we have today and urged them to make good use of the opportunity behind the formation of the body.  


Earlier, the chairman of the forum of ex legislators of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon  Emeka Stanley said they came to reassure him of their solidarity and commended the cordial relationship existing between him and his your boss, the governor. 
They extolled his commitment and loyalty he has so far exhibited in the discharge of his duties saying that they are proud of him and having one of their own as deputy governor. 


The former lawmakers encouraged him to continue the good work and live above board and assured of their unflinching support to the deputy and the administration and restated their willingness to offer their services for the governor's reelection come 2019. 


In their remarks, the former leader and now the state PDP deputy Chairman, Hon. P.  COnyegbu and former Minority leader,  Hon Maxwell Adindu commended what the government was doing to deepen the development of the state and assured of their support to the reelection of the governor and his deputy come 2019.
