Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) is set to inaugurate over 80 projects in Abia communities by August.

Speaking shortly after a one-day orientation seminar for staff of the commission, the commissioner, Chief Uzo Ihuka, said the inauguration was part of activities to mark their first year anniversary in office.

Ihuka said the commission within period under review had embarked on several projects across communities in the state as part of its obligation to influence developmental needs of the people as well as to complement efforts of the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, in the area of alleviating the sufferings of the downtrodden.

The commissioner who also represented the chair of the commission, Chief Sam Nwogu, at the workshop said that the essence of the seminar was to acquaint staff with the procedure of the commission which, he said, was critical at that point in time.

While commending the state government and chairman of the commission for approving the workshop noted, that it would go a long way to encouraging staff of the commission just as he encouraged them to reciprocate the gesture offered by state government to improve their lots.

Chief Ihuka urged them to show commitment, saying the workshop was a component tool that would make the commission attain to its greater heights.

He said the commission was working towards promoting governor Ikpeazu’s development strides in the state particularly in the area of road infrastructure, agriculture, education, health as well as promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) among several others and attributed challenge facing the commission to funds.
