The Board of Trustee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Jubrin Walid has revealed that he held a lot of meetings and negotiations with the aggrieved members of the Fresh PDP before they caved in to pressure and dismantled their plans to be a factional group.

The BoT Chairman maintained that he was the first person to commence peace parley with the group, adding that the BoT had also constituted a reconciliation committee headed by Senator David Mark to negotiate and bring back to the party, all members of the party including serving governors and members of the National Assembly who left the party for various reasons.

Narrating the reconciliation strategies, he said, “The BoT and The National Leadership of the party were very well involved and played a great role in the dissolution of the Fresh PDP recently formed by some aggrieved members of the party.

“I was the first to interact with the group when it was formed pleading with them to follow the reconciliation methodology set by the party. “Now that the group has been totally dismantled PDP is now fully set to take over the mantle of leadership at federal, state, and local government levels.

“The BoT shall intensity it’s efforts in bringing total peace and unity to the party as can be seen in my setting up BoT internal reconciliation committee to settle its aggrieved members under the chairmanship of Senator David Mark. The committee has begun contacting some foundation members and some aggrieved BoT members.

“When I receive the report I will discuss with National Chairman and party leaders to enable us to cement our problems. “I want to congratulate BoT members who partook in the meditation namely Chief Okwezilie Nwodo and senator Omu and NWC members.

“I equally congratulate the leadership of former Fresh PDP who has a reason for coming back to the party. I shall intensify my efforts in seeing that all PDP members who left the party are welcomed back and we are also ready to receive new members” Walid assured.

Recall that a faction of the PDP who called themselves Fresh PDP in December opened a factional office in Abuja as a result of irregularities that arose from the Party’s convention. The group led by, Olukayode Akindele called for the sack of the Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and threatened to establish a parallel NWC in January if their demands were not met.
