As part of measures to ensure the credibility of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State, the Election Monitor (EM) has urged security agencies to act effectively.

The body maintained that the success or otherwise of the election would be determined by the conducts of security agencies.

The Coordinator of the organisation, Mr. Abiodun Ajijola said this on Thursday in Abuja at the public presentation of the “Election Monitor 2017 Anambra State Governorship Election and Research Guide, and First Report of the Current Continuous Voter Registration Exercise”.

The EM is one of the observer groups accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2017 Anambra State Governorship Election.

According to respondents’ aggregates as contained in the report, it might well be quite close for the top contenders.

“Clearly voters are eager and ready to participate and are expected to do so. From the results of this opinion poll, there is clearly the need for effective security deployment to secure the election and encourage voters to come out and vote,” the report said.

Ajijola urged the security agencies to ensure adequate and considerable deployments of personnel and also to ensure professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
