Crises is rocking Abia State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) at the moment over an alleged disappearance of 10.5 Million Naira fund, which was released for the last House of Representatives’ election in Aba South Local Government Area (LGA).

The fund which was released by Ikechi Emenike, one of the founding fathers of the party in Abia State, was to ensure that the party swept victory in the election that was held August 16, this year. It was an election to choose a replacement for late Iheanacho Nwogu, who died some months ago.

A source from the party told Factnews that the intention of the party leaders was to use the election as a test ground, and that all arrangements were made to ensure an easy victory for their candidate. According to our source, the party believed the popularity of Abia State Governor Theodore Orji was waning among the people of the state, and so wanted to use the opportunity to make serious in-road into the state.

As a result of that, a strategy was designed by Chigozie Eze, Chairman of the party in Aba South which was termed “Operation 22 for 20 strategy”. To execute the strategy, which was to produce 22 voters behind every member of the 20 delegates from each ward, the fund was to be used.

Factnews learnt that Eze was summoned on Tuesday, August 9, together with leaders from 7 wards in which the funds disappeared. They were to proceed to Umuahia to explain to a panel of inquiry set to investigate what happened to the funds.

Currently, the crisis is rising in crescendo as many members of the party who had defected from other parties to join the APC have started threatening to return to their former parties, PDP and APGA respectively. They think the roof of APC seems not to be caving in.
