No zoning of Anambra gov ticket – APC

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress has said that the party’s ticket for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State is open to all aspirants who collected its nomination form.
It said there was no truth in the rumour making the rounds that the position had been zoned to a section of the state by the party.
A spokesperson for the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who said this in a statement made available to PUNCH in Abuja on Monday, asked all contestants for the party’s sole ticket to ignore the rumour.
He said, “The attention of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has been called to a report that the Party has zoned the governorship ticket in Anambra State to a particular part of the state. This report is false.
“The party has not taken any such decision. We are committed to providing equal opportunity for all the aspirants to compete freely and democratically in the primaries.
“All aspirants that have been cleared by the party to contest in the primaries should, therefore, ignore the misleading report.”
With this, the five aspirants who were cleared by the Adamu Waziri-led screening panel are expected to take part in the primary.
