IN DEFENCE OF TRUTH; Proofs cancel doubts - By Ikechukwu Iroha

In response to an article my friend and brother Newman Ubani published yesterday on Abiaonline and other political forums in the country titled  "The burden of Governance and the expectation of Abians".

Members of the opposition came in drove to pour in negative comments in a bid to disparage the article while hoodwinking members of the public who are already aware of Governor Ikpeazu' performance.
I read through all those comments. I took note of the negative and disparaging ones. I appreciated those with objective minds as well as those that volunteered kind words. I can say, the engagement was interesting.

Dr.Ikpeazu's government encourages such engagement. I observed that we have two sets of people in Abia State. Those that pray for the progress of the State and those that will never wish we make progress, perhaps, because their choice of candidate did not make it to the number one seat.

Majority of the issues bother on Faulks road, Ohanku road, Ngwa road, PH road etc. Some persons decried the rate of flooding in Aba and traffic congestion along Aba/Owerri road.
While I agree that it is within everyone's right to criticize and call the attention of the government to areas of less attention, I also as a citizen will encourage such is done objectively.
Few of the comments that described the ongoing flyover project at Osisioma as a computer 3D project, do not require a response. It only exposes the person as one who has issues with sight.
A friend who stays at Ukaegbu road in Ogbohill, Aba, was one of those that said the Governor has done nothing even though his road was a dead trap prior to 2015. That's unpatriotic to say the least. Almost all the roads in his Ogbohill axis were the first to receive government attention. Umuola, Ehere, Ukaegbu and Opopo are clear testimonies.
My pastor will say " Only fools doubt Proofs"
Some persons in Lagos and Abuja formed part of the people that believed nothing is happening at Faulks road even though they read and see pictures of the ongoing road project at Faulks/Ariaria road through Ukwumango. Even when they have been authoritatively told that Setraco is working on daily basis. It means that person already has a predetermined mindset. Unfortunate, is the right word.
I understand some persons are making plans for 2019 after they were defeated at the 2015 gubernatorial poll in Abia. Suffice it to say, I am not moved that such persons have started spending money to sponsor propaganda. But, it sounds stupid not to acknowledge that over 30 roads have been either constructed or reconstructed in Aba alone.
I doubt the state can be able to do all 4700 roads at Aba but I know key roads will be done by this administration including Port Harcourt Road which has already been flagged off for reconstruction.
Some persons accused the Government of neglecting some of the roads it started. Same set of persons will question the kind of road that is being done in the rainy season.
Nobody will support road construction during the rains for obvious reasons. Yet some contractors are still on site mopping up drainages.
The new Iberre, Emelogu, Onyebuchi and Emejiaka are all at Ngwa road axis. I understand NDDC is handling the Ohanku road from Owerri Aba angle.
Abia is experiencing an unprecedented rain fall this year. I do not think we expect rain water to vanish immediately after rains not to mention some big cities where rain and flood have dealt a blow within the year. I am not in anyway justifying flooding in the State but i can confirm  that the Federal Government made provision for flood control in some states including Lagos, which I know Abia is not the most hit in the country.
The argument presented a picture that those set of Abians are hardly taking note of the Made in Aba campaign that has given rise to awareness of the resilience and skills of Igbos in the Country despite the attention by the international communities, Federal government, major business stakeholders and individuals who are reading from same platforms and are already patronizing the State in millions.
A shoe maker or cloth designer in Abia will not agree that the Government is not doing enough. At least, that is the different between genuine Abians and  facebook commenting machines.
The state is also making great strides in Education, Agriculture and other key sectors of the economy which genuine Abians are aware of through our constant update on this platforms.
In a nutshell, a lot of work needs to be done in Abia State, but everyone knows that we are not where we used to be.
