The honorable Commissioner for Ministry of Youth Development, Abia State, Bar. Hagler Okorie says hosting 2016 Global start-up weekend in Abia state clearly shows that something wonderful is happening in Abia and that the Government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu will do all it can to give 'life' to ideas displayed at the event.

Bar. Hagler while addressing participants at the grand finale of the 54hours start-up weekend, which began on the 25th November and terminated on the 27th November at the Abia state digital Library, pointed out that what he saw at the event implies that irrespective of the recessed economy, Nigeria has the human resources to overcome the challenging times.

“What works a nation is the people. The people who have got the intellect, the people who have got the drive; the people who are motivated inside of them, not what they see outside. These young entrepreneurs are motivated by what they have inside and I believe they should be models of what you youths should look for,” he said.

He urged the facilitators Daniel Chinagozi and his team to ensure they extract “more” potentials from the participants.

“People here who have participated in the start-up have just displayed some potential, please do well to get more inside them and that is how forward you can be.”

Speaking about the Governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu(PhD), and his efforts in capacity building, Bar. Hagler said:

“He is a young man spiritly built, whose all-round projects and program is capacity building.

“I was supposed to be here last Friday but I was with him in Aba town hall where we had a meeting with youths; different youth groups who came to see their Governor, feel their Governor and he talked to them.

“I want to share one thing he said to me and the young people in Aba: he is so passionate about the upbeat and upkeep of the young people.

“That in your different homes and cluster groups, design an idea, any workable idea like what you are doing here, fix an amount on your idea but it must be a very humble amount, get it across to him. He has promised to make sure that the dream does not die.

“So I am resonating that here to say the same. That’s why I was particular about asking for various start-up figure. So try as much as possible to have a humble sum on this ideas, irrespective of what google will give you, I believe that our government would do their best to bring to life this very raw but ‘cookable’ ideas which you have.”

He commended the facilitators for bringing to Abia such an impactful event, adding that from time to time they would be called upon. He however expressed expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the event.
