Haiti’s ministry of health and international aid organizations has launched a cholera vaccination campaign.

The campaign comes after a rise in cholera cases following the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew, which hit the country on October 4 this year.

According to the ministry, the campaign aims at vaccinating 820,000 people within one week.

It is reported that one million doses of the vaccine had been shipped to Haiti ahead of the campaign.

Scientific studies showed that Nepalese United Nations troops were the source of the disease.

The troops had emptied toilet waste into the Meille River, a major water source in the country.

According to UN figures, the number of suspected cholera cases in Haiti rose to 3,000 in the wake of the hurricane.
