ABIA:We will not Tolerate moves to truncate our relocation plan – Abia commissioner

The Abia state commissioner for information, Culture and strategy, Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha, has stated that the state government will not tolerate wrong moves to truncate government’s effort towards enhancement of even development in Abia state University or any corporate institution owned by Abians.

Comrade Iwuoha in a press statement disclosed that illegal plans are being made by disgruntled politicians to mobilize youths from Uturu and neighbouring communities to protest against the decision of the state government to relocate faculties of Law, Business and Engineeering to Umuahia and Aba campuses of university.

Recall that the State’s commissioner for Education, Prof. Ikechi Mgboji had in an exclusive interview with FactNews, announced the plan to relocate the aforementioned faculties to Umuahia and Aba because “they are professional courses as such movement will provide easy access to professional facilities”. Comrade Iwuoha however noted that security operatives have been alerted. And persons who eventually engage in such protests will be arrested and prosecuted.

 “The attention of the Abia State Government has been drawn to illegal plans being made by some evil minded individuals and disgruntled politicians to mobilize some youths of Uturu and neighbouring communities to embark on protest against the good decision of the State Government to relocate the faculties of law, business and Engineering, to the Umuahia and Aba campuses of the Abia State University, ABSU.

The decision which has been applauded by sound Educationists and very eminent citizens, is for the general growth, progress and advancement of the Abia State University.

Therefore Government will not tolerate any wrong moves by any person or group to sabotage genuine efforts towards the enhancement of even development in the University or any other corporate institution owned by Abians.

The Nigerian Police Force and other Security Agencies are hereby directed to arrest and prosecute any person or group of persons trying to ferment crisis within or around the Abia State University Uturu and in any other part of the State.

Traditional rulers and Parents are advised to caution and control their children. This Government will not spare anyone who attempts to tamper with the On-going peaceful atmosphere in Abia State.”
