ABSIEC Releases Election Date for Chairmanship and Councillorship

The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, has made public the date for the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in the 17 Local Government Areas and 292 electoral wards of the state.
The election will be held on December 17, 2016.
In a statement made available to the press by the ABSIEC Chairman Hon. Justice I.A Akomas, Rtd, says the development is in exercise of the powers conferred in the Commission by Part 11, Third Schedule, Section 4, Subsection a and b of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and pursuant of the fifth schedule, Section 160 of Abia State Local Government Law No 9 of 2002.
The release enjoins all interested political parties who wish to participate at the election to go to the office at No 10 Library Avenue, Umuahia for collection of nomination forms, on or before October 14.
Details of the election to be communicated to all parties in due course, the release added.
