Abia State Govt To Sign MoU With NURTW

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has explained that the essence of his recent launching of ambulances and positioning them in strategic places was to save lives on the road, as the first ten minutes is critical to the survival of an accident victim.

 

Governor Ikpeazu stated this when the National Executives of National Union of Road Transport Workers visited him at Government House, Umuahia.

 


 

 

The Governor, who lamented the poor state of Federal roads in Abia, including Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene, Aba-Ikot Ekpene, Port Harcourt road among others said that it has hampered the efforts of his administration in trade and commerce which is one of the pillars of his government, stressing that movement of goods and services will be easier if the roads are built.

 

He disclosed his intention to build fly-over in Osisioma.

 

Dr. Ikpeazu said that Abia has enjoyed robust relationship with the National Union of Road Transport Workers and assured them that he will look into the issue of signing the Memorandum Of Understanding between the State and the union.

 


 

 

The President of the Union, Alhaji Usman Yasin represented by the  Vice President, Mr Joseph Aluanya commended the Governor for embarking on over 60 road constructions in the State within one year and expressed their solidarity to him.

 

They requested the Governor to bring every tricycle operator in the State to operate under Abia State Amalgamated Tricycles Operators Association (ASATOA).
