Abia House of Assembly Pass a Resolution Urging the State to Tap into FG's Budget Support Fund

The Abia State House of Assembly have passed a resolution urging the State Government to key into the Federal Government's Budget Support Fund.

This followed a matter of public urgent importance presented by the member representing Ukwa East Paul Tarigbo on the need for Abia State government to key into the Federal Government's Budget Support fund which according to him will help the State government in clearing salaries of workers and pensioners.

The House described it as a life-line by the Federal Government to assist states pay salaries in view of the harsh economic realities.

Speaker of the House, Martins Azubuike,said it was necessary for Abia to follow the league of States that have tapped into the project.

The House however,passed a resolution urging the State Government to key into the Federal Government's Budget Support Fund for the purposes of offsetting its debt.

The house also during plenary had in audience the Commissioner for Agriculture, Bar. Uzor Azubuike at the ongoing sectoral debate organised by the House to interface with implementers of laws made by the House.

Speaking during the session,the commissioner gave a load down of the activities of the ministry. He said the ministry under his watch embarked on discovering, recovering and restoration of estates, settlements, plantations that belonged to the State noting that the greatest challenge has been paucity of funds just as he appealed to the House to enact a law prohibiting cattle rearing in the State due to the threat posed by Fulani Herdsmen

Azubuike also answered questions on fertilizer distribution by the ministry,how the Agricultural sector,one of the five pillars of the present administration hopes to augment the economy of the State in view of the harsh economic realities on ground among other questions.
