The People Democratic Party (PDP) today removed the acting National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and constituted a caretaker committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi to organize a new convention within 3 months to elect a new national working committee.

Other members of the committee are Senator Ugbesia, Senator Abdul Ningi, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Aisha Aliyu, and Barrister Usman.

In an apparent shift of support from the embattled former Governor of Borno state at today's national convention in Port Harcourt, Governors elected on the party's platform led by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike supported the dissolution of the national working committee of the party and the appointment of Makarfi as interim National Chairman. They also discarded existing zoning arrangement for party offices.

In his vote of thanks, Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, declared that "Ali Modu Sheriff has done his job, we need a new start to position the party to sweep 2019 polls".
