Abia State Governor Task Graduates on Productivity

Abia Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has tasked university graduates to look beyond their certificates and add their quota to the development of the state by state by discovering their potentials early.

Governor Ikpeazu gave the charge  while speaking at the 24thconvocation ceremony of the Abia state university, Uturu held at the university pavilion.

The Governor said the present day realities requires graduates look for avenues to become self reliant.

He promised to do his best to meet the needs of the institution and promised to donate a 40-seater bus and generating set to the institution.

The Governor stated that the generator is to encourage students to live on campus thereby discouraging cultism and stated his readiness to make public the names of cult members in all institutions in the state.

He was of the view that university degrees are meant to be awarded to those found worthy in character and in learning and not to bullies.

In his speech, the vice chancellor of ABSU, prof Uche Ikonne disclosed that the school has attained full accreditation in larboratory science and computer center, adding that they are on course in industrializing  research with a view to increasing the internally Generated Revenue of the school.

Prof Ikonne who said that a total of 3561 graduands in 1st degree and higher degrees will receive degrees highlighted some of his achievements congratulated the graduands on their success.

The ceremony witnessed the award of honorary degrees on deserving individuals.
