Abia State House of Assembly Summons ABSU Management Over Crisis

Abia State House of Assembly on Monday March 21 summoned the management of Abia State University, Uturu led by Prof. Uchenna Ikonne at its executive session over the cult clash that took the lives of two students of the institution.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the Executive Session, the Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Cosmos Ndukwe, said the leadership of the Ivory tower has held a meeting with stakeholders including traditional rulers, Students Union Government and the Proprietors of Hostels in the environment to profer means of ending the crisis and it's further reoccurrence.
He said to achieve this, the profiling of all students leaving in each hostel has become imperative.

He added that the incident happened four and half kilometers outside the school premises, which was beyond the schools security apparatus. According to him, security Operatives have swung into action and normalcy returned to the environment as the students are still writing their examinations.

The House used the opportunity to urge parents to ensure adequate training of their wards as well as be up to date with activities around their children, within and outside the home.
The House also commiserated with the families of the deceased.
