Aso Rock’s ICT infrastructure is going to gulp about N355.1m according to the 2016 budget.

The budget proposal presented before the joint session of the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari two weeks ago indicates that, out of the NGN39 billion budgeted for the Presidency, NGN136.9 million has been earmarked for the purchase of Internet and IT-related equipment in Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power.

A breakdown reveals that NGN114.4million will be expended on the upgrade of the existing Internet infrastructure in the State House with another NGN22.5million to be spent on purchasing new Internet servers.

Other technology related expenditures in the budget proposal includes the purchasing of what is described as ‘Active Devices for State House Network’, which will cost NGN100 million.

NGN35 million has been earmarked for the purchase of security appliances and licenses, including computer anti-virus software. The budget also earmarked NGN55.7 million for installation of budget planning software.

The presidency will also spend NGN27.5 million for the purchase of computers.

Out of the NGN90.3 billion budgeted for the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for 2016, NGN8.7 billion is to be expended to develop the ONSA’s “All-Eye” surveillance project.
