EFCC Arrest Former Minister, Yuguda, Others Over Arms Procurement Deal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested a Former Minister of State for Finance Bashir Yuguda over alleged arms procurement deal from the last administration.

He was arrested on Monday, November 30th, alongside other top officials from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
Yuguda’s arrest was in connection with a huge amount of money; “running into billions” traced to him from funds meant for arms procurement.
The transfers were said to have been made to his account between December 2014 and May 2015.
The former minister also allegedly received 775 million Naira from the office of the Accountant General of the Federation for unclear reasons.
He is also alleged to have received another 1.275 billion Naira from a conglomerate, Stallion Group, during the last presidential election campaign.
He is currently being interrogated by the anti-graft agency, alongside others.
