Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that fifty percent of the road projects embarked upon by his administration will be completed before the end of the year. Dr. Ikpeazu gave the assurance when he received members of the Abia State House of Assembly at the Executive Council chambers of Government House Umuahia.

Leader of the delegation and speaker, Abia state House of Assembly, Martins Azubuike said their mission is to submit what he called the legislative road map of the 6th House of Assembly.
According to the speaker, the document is a blueprint that is in line with the present administration’s developmental plan which places emphasis on five key sectors that will drive the economy of the state.
Azubuike said the house will come up with legislations that will help the government in developing the state.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in response said the state lawmakers have contributed immensely to the achievements recorded by his administration since assumption of office. The Governor used the forum to brief members of the house of the financial position of the state.
He said last month the state received about 2.6 billion naira as allocation from the federation account while this month it got 2.4 billion naira. In view of dwindling revenue, Governor Ikpeazu said the state is faced with many challenges especially the development of the road infrastructure.
He expressed optimism that the state has the capacity to surmount the challenges.
According to the Governor, one of the ways of overcoming the problems is by focusing and improving internally generated revenue and diversifying the economy by placing less emphasis on the oil and gas sector.
On the screening of the commissioner nominees sent to the house for confirmation, Dr. Ikpeazu commended the house for painstakingly screening the commissioners who had been sworn in. He said that the commissioners were chosen based on merit in order to fast-track the development of the state.

All the 23 members of the Abia state House of Assembly were present on the occasion.
